If anyone can find a pic of a small full green please post to show the difference thank you Few variegated fronds ….. There is a slight blonde strip but that why i asked is the green form Always green or does it have. Appears to be the green form. Never observed even hints of varigation on any of the solid green specimens i have seen in both FL. Now correct me if I am wrong is it true that even the green ones will spit out some variation in its life span ?
Hybrid palms for sale 1gal sizes
I used a 4 foot bamboo stick I bought at Home Depot and tied it to the broken leaf. Mine’s established and I still water it almost daily. Secondly, drought tolerance is typically referring to in ground established plants. I’ve always heard that Foxy Lady’s like sun and are somewhat drought tolerant… From what I understand, this tree has been in the pot all along and was not recently potted from a field grown specimen.
@here does anyone have Foxy Lady seed they would like to sell? Wanting to put them out but not if they’re not a true hybrid. Hybrids seem to have a higher rate of growth for some reason. The seed looks pretty elongated, so I would think it would have a lot of Vetchia characteristics. Maybe something I might try to track as time goes on.
Here is the 5th seed that failed float test. I picked up a few seed that was on the ground while taking pics. I have 2 that look just like a foxtail. I know of 1 other grower in Cape Coral that gets viable seed.
Foxy Lady palm
The collection has a few standard green Foxies, and a Variegated specimen whose crown receives full sun. FULL DISCLOSURE…these are not photos of my palms, nor did I take these photos. What’s the difference between the variegated and the green ? There’s been a couple times where large all green forms have been available, but it hasn’t been too often. Can anyone tell me where I can buy a small foxy lady foxy gold or gear me in the right deduction thank you
Foxy lady palm
I did notice the dark spot on the side away from the walkway a while back, but it wasn’t really oozing anything at the time. Yeah I had one sprout a while back but had some irrigation issues to my potted plants in my absence and it ended up drying out and dying. Never noticed seed on the variegated Foxy located in another part of the collection. Floribunda had some f2 foxy ladies a while ago. The one I’m growing in Leucadia is from the same source and purchased about the same time, as this and another “Foxy Lady” I have.

Boron deficiency has been identified as the cause of palm leaning syndrome. I have a couple of other Foxy Ladies that I got roughly at the same time which each shoe different characteristics, but I digress from the issue. So I have been watching this palm I acquired as a Foxy Lady as it has increasing leaned toward the south this summer. Well mine has a sparse seed set that dropped today.
Yep, I was told it’s the mother plant genes that determine the fruit/seed so you can’t tell an F1 hybrid without growing it! Seed from a foxtail palm will only look like foxtail seeds even if something else is going in the seed. But I have had a foxy lady from came off of one of my foxtails…. Anyone have success with seeds from a foxy lady? After many years and trees that are ungodly tall, my foxy lady, 1 of 2 dropped 2 very ripe very real looking seeds.
- I came across the legendary Foxy lady palm.
- I bought one like that on eBay recently and it will eventually be planted in a shady/partially sunny area of the garden.
- It never ceases to amaze me how little water rootbound palms in pots get, even if you soak them everyday.

I have a couple of completely green ones in my yard and there isn’t a bit of variegation I think it’s better classifies as mostly green or mostly variegated that’s my conclusion There are no light colored green leaves and zero variegation. That palm is 100% solid dark healthy green. David the light must be playing tricks in the photo, this palm has zero variegation. Full greens do not have any variegation.

Purchased several years ago as a seedling from a breeder in Florida. Was it grown from a seed made by nature or by manual cross pollination? Where did that palm originate?
- For the past few months, specimens are in the 1gal pot size, with the palm being around a 1’ in height, most are variegated form.
- Typically I find the F1 does have the hybrid vigor, except when they are very variegated.
- The seeds that Mike Evans germinated were F2, there is no guarantee they will be Wodveitchias.
- I have 2 smaller foxys, and they were sensitive to repotting; it stunted their growth for several months.
- I think I would be more worried about the dark weeping spots.
The real bummer is that I will also eventually have to remove the other big palm in that corner of the garden because it is a Caryota that will eventually flower. I think I would be more worried about the dark weeping spots. Beautiful palm hopefully it pulls through, good luck. Initially that doesn’t look like the LPS I’ve experienced or seen; I think I would be more worried about the dark weeping spots. The core may be rotting, potentially? The line of dark spots is most concerning.
A guy in my area has them for sale pick up at 200 for a baby 1 gallon pot , he had 4 now he has 3 , i got one today and I am looking forward to watching it grow Regardless, good luck and hopefully you’ll be able to get a hold of this great palm sooner rather than later.. Bigger ” seeder ” at Kopsick sits close to where the collection’s Veitchia grove is located. I have little doubt that had it been spring, or this time of year, germination likely would have succeeded. If you’re up to a good challenge, Kopsick Palm – Arboretum in St. Pete has a few specimens, at least one that can / has produced seed.
Most likely a resold Rancho Soledad plant or a Florida import from Sparkman. But if there is actually “zero” movement, your palm is probably already dead. Even in the slowest sickliest palm, you should notice some movement of the spear – even 1/8 of an inch in a week assures that your palm is still alive. If you meant the spear has not moved at all, then your palm was in trouble from day one. You said, “I marked the spear the day it was delivered, and there has been zero growth.”
